NON-SETTLING LOG
Scandinavian wood is an excellent choice for building a healthy home. Solid log construction is durable, controls moisture well, and keeps its value over time. Pluspuu homes can be left unheated when not in use, and the solid wood walls help protect against pests and infestation. At the same time, they create a warm, natural living environment that other materials cannot match.
The non-settling engineered log is the newest innovation in the prefabricated log kit home industry and is considered one of the biggest advances in log construction in a generation. It allows for sleek modern designs and new architectural solutions that are not possible with traditional log building, making wooden homes appealing to more people and new markets.

What Is Non-Settling Log?
The non-settling log is an engineered wood product made from layers of kiln-dried timber, usually three, five, seven, or nine, placed at right angles to each other and bonded with adhesive under pressure. Gluing the timber this way gives the log strong structural rigidity and prevents settling. These logs are made from spruce or pine.
With non-settling construction, you do not need to allow for settlement as you would with traditional log homes. There is no need to adjust screw jacks after building. Windows and doors attach directly to the log frame, so no extra framing is needed. Roofing, wall framing, and floor systems use standard construction techniques, which makes the process smoother, faster, and simpler than traditional log building. Engineered logs are also more uniform in shape and size and are less likely to crack, split, or warp.
The cross-laminated engineered log we use is unique to Pluspuu and is our specialty in the log kit industry.

Log Corners
Pluspuu homes feature the mitred corner joint, a signature design detail we have perfected over years and many projects. The logs are connected using mitred dovetail joints, which keep all log layers perfectly aligned and remove the need for traditional overlapping joints. Besides its striking appearance, the mitred corner provides the best sealing performance of any joint construction.
The narrow log seams of the mitred corner create clean, straight lines. This gives Pluspuu homes a modern, sleek, and elegant look that fits well in both urban settings and natural surroundings.

Which Log Diameter?
134 mm logs are suitable for recreational houses, cabins, and sauna buildings that will be left unheated or only occasionally heated during winter.
202 mm logs are used for homes and properties that are lived in and heated all year. They provide excellent thermal performance and comfort throughout the year.
